Get to the point -CC3

Have you ever been to heaven?

Yes i have been there

I am going to share the experience I had when I went to my friend, Prasad’s marriage. He’s my colleague and he was my roommate too.

And as usual, even though the entire office was invited, only two from our office could made it to his wedding. Anand and me took train to Mangalore from Chennai. It took around 15 hours to reach Mangalore. And that was one of the longest journeys of my life.

Since only two of us went, we planned to stay in Prasad’s house.

After reaching Mangalore, the journey continued for another two hours, because Prasad’s native was two hours away from Mangalore. We boarded the bus towards his native, but I was really scared because the roads were full of hairpin turns, blind curves, uphill and downhill. But the bus driver drove the bus so sensibly.

When we got down at the destination, Prasad’s Father was waiting for us in his new Omni car. I got surprised seeing the car, and asked him, Still how far is his house? He said it was around two kms away. And so the adventure continued. The roads were not proper and there was a 1000meter slope towards the left side of our car. The wheel was so close to the slope.

After travelling around one km, we saw a house and he said that this was their neighbor’s house. Then out of curiosity I asked him where was his house? He smiled and replied, we still need to go another kilometer.

It was the monsoon season and hence the roads were filled with water.

Finally, we reached their car parking, where Prasad was standing to receive us. Prasad and me work on the same project. We rode around the city in the same bike and we stayed together for 8 months. But I’ve never seen him in a such an environment and so enthusiastic too.

Since, I couldn’t find any house nearby, I asked ‘If this is the car parking, then where is your house?’. He pointed out to the small mountain beside us and said it was there. I couldn’t find any house on that hill because all I could see was only coconut trees and arecanut trees. I really was surprised to see them having their car parking in one hill and their house in another hill. Since there was no road, the possibility to reach their home was on foot. We started descending the current hill. The stones were carved into steps which has a lot of fungus. There was a small stream flowing on the pathway with crystal clear water. Usually we cover such streams with concrete or metal to walk above the stream, but over there they covered it with areca nut tree. We walked above the stream and reached their farm.

There were tall Areca Nut trees which had green pepper creeper all over its bark. And in between areca nut trees, there were a lot of greenish banana plants. Except for the pathway, rest of the place was filled with plants and trees. Then, I heard a waterfall sound, which made me look around and to my surprise, I saw a small and beautiful waterfall, on my left side. The water in the  stream was flowing like a river and there were fishes swimming in it.

Further, we continued walking, and found a well on my right. Usually wells are mostly either dry or water will be so low. But in that well, the water was overflowing. The walls of the well were covered with green betel creeper. The well was surrounded with reddish cocoa trees. And as usual, I plucked a cocoa bean and ate it. The taste was totally different. I had never tasted anything like that.

After that we started climbing towards the next hill. There were Rose flowers over there, which smiled and welcomed us. Then, we saw Prasad’s beautiful cottage house. It was surrounded by trees. To the right side of the house, there was a cowshed and a greenhouse. On the front of the house, they had lot of plants like lady’s finger, tomato, beans and cucumber, for their house needs. And to the left side of their house, I saw a lot of Guava, Pomegranate, Jackfruit and Mango trees.

Prasad’s family welcomed us with huge smiles on their faces. His family is a joint family with around fifteen people. I started memorising few kannada words that I learnt from Prasad. Because they knew only kannada, but I only knew english and tamil. And as usual I started communicating with my body language like. Whenever I spoke the words I memorised from Prasad to them, they got excited and said ‘Wow! Varatharaj speaks kannada so well !’.
On that night, I had a very severe stomach pain and asked Prasad that shall we go to any hospital. But Prasad suddenly went to his kitchen and brought some buttermilk mixed with some other ingredient. I drank that and after a while, my stomach pain vanished. I was surprised and asked him what medicine he added in it. He laughed and said that was the powder of pomegranate skin. In their place, if anyone has any medical problem, they try to solve them by such natural things, because there were no hospitals nearby. But most of the time the natural medicine they consumed will cure their problem and they won’t have the need to go to a hospital.

they solved most of the health issue using natural things. Very very rare they hit to the hospital. But here if we feel tired we will go to hospital. What every medicine you take will fall under two category.

Risk,benefit like
low risk  low benefit
low risk  high benefit
High risk  low benefit
High risk  high benefit

Which are the medicine are come under high risk our government will ban it.
But natural ingredient  0 rish 100% benefit.

.The next day was Prasad’s marriage. It was one of the best marriage, I have ever attended. There were no crackers, spray, dowry or giving money. There was a 6 hours long traditional Pooja, because they were an orthodox Brahmin family. And another important thing to note about their culture is their food. All the recipes they prepared was full of ghee. I was surprised to see that no one wasted even a single grain of rice and everyone stood up together after everyone finished their meal.

Just think about how many of us wasted food on function and restaurant in UK if you will waste the food then you  have to pay more excess money for that they consider as a crime  but here. we added superfluous food and take only 70 percent of that  remaining will be waste. That 70% food is more than your needed. If you are not control your food  i would valendlarly add Doctores most waster list  either diabetes or obesity be careful friends child obesity is biggest problem for us in feature.

Because of the happy respective and responsible  people I met, pure air, clean water, greenish trees and plants, calm environment, no synthetic medicines, no pollution and good food, made me feel like I was in heaven.

Toastmaster Of the day (TMOD) script

Thank you President TM Rekha.

I’ve got a very rare and serious virus within me. The symptoms of it are,
  1. My name has changed from Varatharaj to ™ Vratharaj
  2. When anyone asks me any question, I’ll take around 30 seconds to answer it.
  3. And once I start answering, I won’t stop (until i see the red card) for the next two minutes.
  4. Whenever I meet a stranger, I smile at them, without even considering the surrounding, whether it may be a traffic signal or a public restroom.
  5. I don’t know what happened to me, but people consider me mentally challenged.
But I’m so happy, because these symptoms, gives me a feeling that I’ll become a DTM very soon.

Time for 2nd segment - Table Topics
Before we move to the second segment, I would like to continue on the funny incident that happened in the girl’s house.

After my CC! Speech, we had an interesting QA session like RamesDhawanni ACB.

After the QA session, I thought I’ll be leaving, but suddenly the girl said she wanted to talk to me alone. So, we went to the balcony, where my TT session began. I thought she would give me only one topic, but she gave me nearly fifteen topics. Like,
‘What do you think about love?’ and
‘I dont know cooking. Do you?’’

Thank You ™ Avinash. All your TT speechs have helped me a lot.
Manisha ‘I Love You’’ (Please get ™ Manisha’s permission before saying this she may find it offensive). Oh I’m sorry, I meant your ‘I love you’ speech, that also helped me.

Now, you are all going to participate in this session except me. You need not worry, because the TT master Gayathri is a very nice person.

Let welcome table topic master ™ Gayathri
(after Table topic )
Thank you Gayathri
Time for 3nd segment - Evaluation
Evaluation is everywhere. Without evaluation, there is no room for improvement.
Back to my story,
On that day, after my TT session with the girl, we had an evaluation session with her father, who was the evaluator. He stated that I had a good skin color, which according to him was my body language. He also said that my speech inspired both of his daughters.
Similarly, all the speakers here, are going to be evaluated by their evaluator.
Like me here all the speaker are evaluated by their evaluator  . May I request General evaluator ™ Archana  to take over the session.
Timer can u read out the qualified evaluators names. I request audience to vote for the best evaluator.

We have come to the end of today's session.
From all my experience, I understood that finding a life partner is tougher than becoming a TDM.

Give control to president TM Rekha

Until next time,
yours disobediently
TM Varatharaj

Thank You.

Grammarian role script

Chennai Toastmaster
Date : 2016/09/18
Grammarian role script

Thank you General Evaluator,A very good evening to all. My role as a Grammarian is to pay attention to the good use of English and provide suggestions for improvements.

I would like to introduce the Word of the Day is to help us all enrich our vocabulary one meeting at a time ,so that we have vast array of word use in our speeches, and in our day-to-day lives. For this meeting the word  of the Day is zenith meaning  the time at which something is most powerful or successful. .For example,
In the 1860s, Tolstoy was at the zenith of his achievement.
His career reached its zenith in the 1960s.

I request all the speakers and role players to use the word of the day as frequently as they can in the speeches and roles today, and i urge the audience to applaud every time someone does this. I will also counting the number of time each speaker and role player use the word of the Day during today’s meeting and presenting it in my report
I will provide my report at the end of this meeting ,when called up on by the General Evaluate

Organize Your Speech-CC2

My Teacher
I have studied in a school called Annamalai nadar unnamalai ammal municipal  higher secondary school. From the name, it seems like a girl’s school but it is boys’ school.

I used to score good marks in all the subject but English. English was my enemy. In english, I always got 10-25 marks. Throughout  my schooldays,  i have never got passed in english except 10th and 12th public examinations.
You may be curious how much would my score was in other subjects. But the truth is , I have never got more than 70 percentage in my entire school days.
In those days I only bothered to get pass marks. The reason is because of the teacher’s reaction to our marks. If you get  90+ then they would pet the student’s back  and used to say that very good, keep it up this is my son.
If you got 70-80 then  good .
If you got 50-60  next time you need to get more than this ok?
If you got 40-50 then Teacher would say  is this your mark, go away?
If you got 35-40 then they would throw away the paper
If you got 25-35  then they would throw away paper on you face and used to beat in both right and left hand until they were tired. The beating depended on their mood.

We used to wear very thick shirt and trouser on that day. And you can never take leave on that day because the next day will be special care with high energy.
I used to pray that my paper should come last because if your paper come first then teacher have more energy than if it came last . This was the common practice in the entire school

After completing my school every one aimed to become engineer or doctor but I aimed to join Co- education arts College. Finally i joined college called Sri Ramasamy Naidu Art

In my college I used to sit in front desk. If any teacher want chalk piece then i used to go staff room and get the chalk piece.
On one day a staff asked me to bring the chalk piece, so i rushed into staff room and grabbed the chalk piece and was just about to get out from staff room and suddenly a voice came hai varatharaj! i turn towards the voice and noticed that it was one of the staff who called me.
I don't want to tell her name here. She is one of the best lecturers in our college.,She has great knowledge about the subject. The way she explains is awesome. I used to get more marks in her subject.
I smiled to her but she got angry and told don't you have any common sense to ask permission before coming inside the room? Do you think this is market. I started crying and she continued to scold.  I know you get seat inside this college with high recommendation and not from your mark. Your father is a coolie and if i give TC then your life will be question mark mind it be careful.

My first priority is always to be an obedient and respectful person rather than study. So i was so depressed. I felt hard, I did not even took my lunch on that day.
It may sound crazy but I decided to end up my life.  I decided to throw myself in front of bus/lorry. As I was returning back to home with my friend, I saw a lorry far away with tears in my eyes. I thanked my parents. I waited for the larry to come close. It was around 20 meters away and i rushed into it. My friend shouted varatha…...  the lorry driver stopped lorry only few inches from me

My friend came and slapped me and asked what had happened? I  narrated the incident.
he started laughing and told me not to worry. He explained me that it was a simple matter which made me change my decision.

During my first job my project manager cum trainer was Rajkumar.
If I achieved any small accomplishment then he used to appreciate and encourage  me.
If I make any mistake then, he won't say anything harsh, instead he would give some more time to think over that to solve that problem in different way.
finally I used to find that mistake and rectify and solve the problem in effective manner.
he showed me that path of how to learn and how to think. He changed my entire life.

But when i was studying in school and college, I started as an average student. studied as an average andi completed as an average without any improvement.
because most of the teacher would only motivate class toppers. Instead of motivating them, they should spend some time to encourage and improve the student who lack in study. If a student got 0 mark in first test then that is ok. There are still 10 test remaining. If he make progress of 5 marks a test then at the end he could get 50 marks in final.
Like a mother, teacher should support and motivate more to the weak child rather than strong one.
every student is like a white paper. If it is given to the art teacher then make that into colorful drawing, if your are the science teacher then make that into rocket or ship or combine all the papers and write good sentence, If you bind it then it will make a great book.

Please don't use red pen to write on the paper that can not be erased and always be like a mole.

Don’t crush the paper. Once you crush it, you can not revert. It will always be like a scar in their heart.

Icebreaker CC1

Who am i ?

Where were you bone? either hospital or home but Me.August 17th 1986 a private bus service called Jayaram was traveling from Sivakasi to Srivelluputhurin through a place called Malli. Near Malli, all men changed their The ride turned different after Malli, all the men changed the seat to the back of the bus and all women sat at the front. The bus driver doubled the speed to around 70 KM per hour. For the first time I sensed   Earth’s gravity. How?
Yes my dear friends,  it turned out to be the day I would vacate my mother’s womb.
I was the speed highway delivery. My mother was not able to sit in the bus because of labour pain,
She just stood.Suddenly i was born and fell on to the bus floor.

The bus changed its route and went to government hospital.
Before the bus reached hospital,  bus owner came into hospital and requested my mother to name me of the bus service. So i was named as Jayaram. My goodness Jayaram is the decent bus name. What if it was ‘Delux , Double decker, highway rider. Then? ’ I thanked bus owner to  recommend only his this name in instead of the names that appeared in the route. Otherwise my name would have been sivakasi to srevelliputhur Including via malli.

Unfortunately my mother turned sick after I was named Jayaram, so everyone in my family thought that it best to change my name in accordance with the usual norms in my family. In our family, first child's name must be our family’s God’s name.Terms and conditions of the  name are that it must start with the syllables ‘Va, which led to them choosing my family’s favorite name is Varatharaj. In fact my father’s name is also Varatharaj.

Till the age of 12, everything was fine at home. I used to play along with my street friends games like (Gilli Danda, Goli, Hide And Seek Lattu (Spinning Top) ).And during the weekends, we would play near the lake in our village. There was a farm near to that lake. The farm contained many fruit trees like chiku,Guava, pomegranate..without letting the owner of the farm we used to pluck the fruits..

Usually we used to return back to home by evening 6 pm.My mother did not like me to go to the lake because I was so short i didn’t know swimming at that time. So while returning back home I used to apply sand on my head and body. But my mother used to find out what happen to me ,by just looking at my eye. you know friend eyes turn red when you are in the lake.

After knowing the truth, my mother used to beat me a lot until my father returns to home. Once my father came back, he used to support me.

On those days, I liked my father very much because, he used to give me 50 paisa thrice a day i.e. morning, afternoon and evening. My early and middle childhood went like this.

During my teens (age of 12-20), every day after completing school i used to go to matchbox factory to earn 10 Rs per day. If it was any holiday or the weekend then I would earn around 100 rupees a day.
Yes friends, I was working as a child labourer from  the age of 12.I earned wages of 250 Rs  per week would give it to my mother.

On those days i was not aware of education. I was not having any idea why i was going to school the reason could be because my parents and my elder brother were school dropouts. I was not having any aim. My circle was small, but i was the most happiest kid in the world.

Fortunately I passed my 10th and 12th. Later, I joined B.Sc. and then did M.C.A.The reason I was able to complete my studies was because my mother took debt from others for my college fees. For my other needs, I worked as labourer and night security on weekdays.

After completion of my M.C.A., luckily i got the job in software Company. So i payed  back all the debt my mother took  from others for my study.

My life is similar to that of dragonfly. Dragon fly would lay eggs in the water even though it lives on land. Then that egg hatches inside the water to create the beginning as a nymph.
A nymph looks like a little alien. It doesn’t have any wings. It stays inside the water until the wings are grown and then it comes out of the water and can fly.Similarly when i was in my village, I was not having any aim, ambition, plan, dream, intent, interest , and I had no targets.

But now I can visualise everything clearly.
My 250 Rs weekly wages now  become a lake's, I  want to convert that into crores

Something i have truly believe . Because if you believe yourself
Anything  is possible.  When I asked money for my study with my closed  relative they said  stop study and go  work with your father.
My close friends said to me  your communication skill is worst you can not get the job in software company. i never give up. Now prove i Can
